Birth & postnatal doula · London
A doula in London who stays beside you.
I'm Steph, a full-spectrum doula supporting families across London through pregnancy, birth, and the weeks after. One familiar face, from your first antenatal session to your last postnatal visit.
Doula support across London
I support families in all London boroughs — North, South, East, and West — including Lewisham, Greenwich, Southwark, Lambeth, Croydon, Bromley, Hackney, Tower Hamlets, Islington, Camden, Ealing, Wandsworth, and beyond. Whether you are planning a home birth, a birth centre birth, or a hospital birth, I come to you.
Antenatal and postnatal sessions take place in your home, so we practise positions and comfort measures in the space you will actually be using. Virtual sessions are also available if that suits you better.
Why London families choose a doula
London maternity units are busy, and you may meet several different midwives across your pregnancy and birth. A doula gives you continuity: one person who knows your history, your wishes, and how you like to be spoken to.
- A calm, familiar presence in a busy hospital or birth centre
- Help to understand your options and ask the right questions, so decisions stay yours
- Hands-on comfort in labour — positioning, massage, counter-pressure, and breathing
- A partner who knows exactly where to stand and what helps
- Practical, emotional postnatal support — especially if family live far away
How I can support you
Every package is personalised after your connection call. You can see the full details on the packages section.
- MamaBear Prep (birth support) — four antenatal preparation sessions, on call from 10 days before your due date, continuous support on the day, and a check-in within 24–48 hours.
- MamaBear Signature (full care) — everything in Prep, plus up to four postnatal visits over 8–12 weeks, recovery healing sessions, and a birth debrief.
- MamaBear Held (postnatal support) — up to four three-hour visits across the fourth trimester, with feeding, sleep, settling, and emotional support.
- Fertility support — emotional support and advocacy through IVF, IUI, surrogacy, adoption, and loss.
Trauma-informed, inclusive care
If a previous birth was difficult, we build a plan around consent, communication, and feeling safe, so this experience can feel different. I support first-time parents, second-time parents, LGBTQ+ families, solo parents, and every kind of family.
Questions London families ask
Will you get to my hospital in time? I am on call from 10 days before your due date and plan travel around your birth location. A trusted backup doula is arranged before your due window, so you are never left unsupported.
Do you replace my midwife? No. Midwives and doctors provide your medical care. I provide continuous emotional and practical support alongside them. Read more in what does a doula do?
How much does a doula cost in London? It depends on the support you need. See typical London doula costs — payment plans are available.
